Isn't that great!
Tamara of Tam's Creations is already quite a specialist of biscornus, with different series of patterns available in blackwork and cross-stitch.
So it's only natural that SHE would have come up with the next great idea: making one that works as a cushion, a giant biscornu!

Now for the good news: this pattern is only 150 x 150 large, in other words the size of a medium-sized cross-stitch project. Making it BIG does not make it any longer to stitch. Using 6 strands and Extra Large Aida (6ct), this project can be made in very reasonable time.

For the back, Tam uses color-coordinated fabric, and the same technique she applies for assembling her other small biscornus. You can download her step-by-step instructions for making a biscornu with a regular fabric backing.

Personalize your Christmas tree with this clever cross-stitched Xmas tree skirt idea from Faby Reilly (la Fée Rie).
The designer assembled 6 panels of extra large count Aida (available in 6ct from DMC as "XXL fabric").The front piece is cross stitched and the other parts are decorated with ribbons. You could also substitute the other panels with pretty coordinated Xmas fabric.

Faby Reilly likes to include embellishments (beads, metallics) and a few specialty stitches in her patterns. For extra-easy reading her charts are provided in two steps: Cross stitching only and Cross stitch with backstitch, seedbeads and specialty stitches.

This ornament in part of a series of 3 coordinated humbug patterns designed by Faby Reilly. The intricate design is a perfect cross stitch rendering of a branch of mistletoe, delicately curved around the humbug shape. The pattern is reinforced by some backstitch (presented on a separate chart) as well as some star shaped specialty stitches worked in golden metallic embroidery floss.

The chart includes some useful step by step instructions and pictures for both the specialty stitches and for making the humbug shape. Faby Reilly, the designer, as also made the humbug instructions available to all and you can download them so you can get a feel of what the project is like.
