Fabulous fall foilage colors with multicolor floss
Stitching with nature's colors
 Why are overdyed and multicolor threads so popular with stitchers and designers alike? Below we have a close look at how our designers are using these fabulous threads for autumn patterns.

Using any softly blended muticolor embroidery floss, is like watching the colors of fall foilage change day after day, the colors change from stitch to stitch, each new cross stitch a delightful surprise.
 Hear what Tamara of Tam's Creations has to say about the range that DMC offers:
" DMC Color Variations are great to use for autumn designs. they give a variation of colors in the leaves, the same you find in nature"
Tam used these colors for two of her latest patterns, a little squirrel and 3 biscornus. We show a sample of the corresponding DMC color card so that you can see the color effect of each thread.

Here are some examples of other designers using DMC Variations floss in their patterns:
 Helga Mandl uses the gentle changes of color of this orange thread (DMC CV 4124) to bring to life the large stiched area of the pumpkin. To reach a similar effect with regular cotton floss, you would need to change colors constantly. With any soft multicolor thread you can stitch those large areas quickly.
Tip: avoid any strongly contrasted multicolor threads because they create stripes (except if it's the result you are looking for).

This pattern by Perrette Samouiloff was entirely stitched with multicolor threads, also from the DMC Color Variations range . The result is a beautiful harmony, with lively and rich colors, yet only a palette of 6 skeins was used. Here's another design where embroidery threads imitate nature: Autumn fruit by Tom & Lily, picking the exact hue of each fruit or vegetable as in the two details shown below.
